Rossi Engineering was incorporated by three family members in December of 1996 with the vision to engineer, design and build marine products; specifically sailboats in the 25-35 foot range. Our first design and build was to the Mount Gay 30 Rule and launched in 1998. The boat was named Stitch-N-Glue and raced for several years on the Chesapeake Bay out of Annapolis, Maryland.

The hard-chine concept and building techniques used have been further refined and applied to additional sail and power craft designs we have had the opportunity to be involved with. Recently, we have been rescuing and restoring several International 5.5s to preserve a bit of sailing history and grow the North American Fleet.

The Rossi-33 Racer Cruiser (R/C) originated from design ideas that were explored on the Rossi-Mount Gay 30 launched in 1998.
Similar to this earlier design the hard chine hull shape was used in this design which keeps construction cost down and provides exceptional off the wind performance, but that is where the similarity ends.
A lifting keel and rudder were incorporated to expand the versatility in launching the boat.
To improve on the upwind performance the hull was lengthened and changes were made to the hull form.
Stitch-N-Glue has been in the shed undergoing deck, hull and rig modifications (see image below) with racing planned in the near term.
This updated design will be called a Rossi 33 HPX (High Performance Extreme) with the goal of generating interest in a new format for a 33 foot class.
More to follow.
The Rossi-Mount Gay 30 was home built using 1/2" marine plywood with epoxy and fiberglass cloth covering by the designer near Annapolis, Maryland and launched as "Stitch-N-Glue" in 1998.
Early in Stitch-N-Glue's race history she was trucked to Newport twice and Key West three times.
Purchase includes 2D drawings that provide specifications, material lists and dimensional information to permit construction.

All plans include 8 hours of free consultation and supplemental drawings and 3D model information at our discretion.
Preliminary design work on a 10 meter (33 foot) performance boat has been done based on the Rossi 7.50 Sportboat concept combined with the Rossi 33 R/C sailplan.
One significant difference for this design is the hull shape below the chine.

Rossi Engineering has prepared a preliminary design to meet the International 5.5 Metre Rating Rule.
A hard chine hull shape has been drafted to fit within the rule allowances and permit transport without restrictions on all (US and European) roadways.
The US fleet is rebuilding.
Currently there are eight Classic 5.5's in sailing/racing condition, three in various stages of restoration, and several awaiting new caretakers.
These numbers do not include the handful of Columbia 5.5's that were built in the late 60's, but unfortunately not allowed into the class at the time.
Recently a few of the Evolution boats (80's) were found in the US, one is now in Canada and the other two need work to get them back on the water.
There is now a Modern in the US, and perhaps more will follow in the not to distant future with growth in the 5.5 Metre Class.
