The Sandusky County Sanitary Engineer's Office was established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1975 to provide sanitary sewer and water services to residents of Sandusky County. Our mission is to provide the best possible service at reasonable costs to each of our customers. This means acting quickly and efficiently to solve problems and answer complaints, and to maintain the facilities in the best possible condition by utilizing just and honest principles.

In 1975, the Sandusky County Sanitary Engineers was created by the Board of County Commissioners to assist the Board in performing its duties pursuant to Chapter 6103 (County Water Supply Systems) and Chapter 6117 (County Sewerage Systems) of the Ohio Revised Code, plus other duties and services in relation to sanitation and environmental concerns.
The Sanitary Engineers is governed by Federal and State regulations promulgated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The Sandusky County Sanitary Engineers operate and maintain three (3) Sewer Districts in the County, which include over 50 miles of sanitary sewers and 2 miles of water mains.
We currently operate over 3,500 service connections for sanitary sewer and water.
The sewage collection system contains multiple lift stations and package treatment plants.
The water distribution system contains a water treatment plant that utilizes two wells.
The County utilizes the Date Acquisition part of the System Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) for monitoring all of our facilities.

For property owners, who need to perform sanitary sewer and/or water connections in Sandusky County's sewer and/or water districts, an Application for Permit must be filled out and returned to the Sanitary Engineers.
The Sanitary Engineer's office will notify the customers when the permit is ready to pick up, along with the Permit charges.
Cash or check is accepted for payment.
Checks shall be made payable to: Sandusky County Sanitary Engineer.
An application fee of $10.00 is required for all applications.
