Over the past 35 years The Helmes Group has provided creative, efficient, functional and attractive high-quality designs for hundreds of clients. With over 200 years of combined experience, The Helmes Group has successfully managed the design and completion of construction for well over a thousand different projects. We pride ourselves in our expertise and efficient Project Management services.
Services
In 1952 Bruce P. Helmes, AIA, Architect established his architectural firm in Katonah, New York for the general practice of architecture.
In 1985 several of his sons Peter Helmes, AIA, Steven Helmes, AIA, Philip Helmes, PE, and Kevin Helmes joined him and the name of the firm was changed to The Helmes Group.
The firm provides, with consulting engineers, complete design services including site planning, architectural, interior and landscape design as well as structural, mechanical, electrical engineering and general consulting.
The Helmes Group is a full services architectural firm.
Services provided include initial programming and meeting with the client to establish the specific needs for their project.
Following the programming phase, conceptual and preliminary design drawings would be developed for review with client followed by the design development phase and the preparation of detailed construction documents.
Many projects require having to obtain Zoning Approval and/or Planning Board Approval before proceeding beyond the preliminary design phase.
In close collaboration with our various Consulting Engineers we coordinate all engineering aspects of a project which culminates in a comprehensive and well integrated set of construction documents.
This effort goes a long way in avoiding costly change orders and delays that might otherwise result during construction.
Many projects require close coordination of several different engineering disciplines including Geotechnical, Civil/Site/Landscaping, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and sometimes even specialty engineers may be needed for acoustics, specialty lighting, audiovisual and other similar specialty engineering.
The Helmes Group prides itself in the administration of construction contracts and Project Management.
Every project is made up of numerous tasks which form the basis of a construction schedule.
Having a realistic schedule prior to beginning construction will help to keep the project on track and will allow monitoring and updating the progress of the work from start to finish.
Included in the Construction Administration Phase is a detailed review of the budget costs which will form the basis or Schedule of Values to be used for approving payments to the Contractor as construction progresses.
The Helmes Group has designed hundreds of homes throughout the Eastern and Southern States from small additions to new multi-million dollar custom homes, including country estates, equestrian / barn facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, etc.
