Services
Founded in 1967 by brothers Don and Tom Mabie, CS Tool Engineering was originally known as Cedar Springs Tool and Die.
Housed in the back of a produce market on the north end of town, the young company's first jobs were repairing stamping dies for a local stamping house.
But it wasn't long before they began to take on new projects.
Such as producing the tooling for an ice gripper attachment for a standard set of wooden crutches.
Company growth continued and in 1974, a new 6,000-square-foot building was constructed at CS Tool's present site -- the corner of Cherry and Fifth Streets in Cedar Springs.
The final product is never better then the engineering, design and tooling used to create the component.
At CS Tool Engineering our specialty is overmolded and in-mold component assembly production.
As automotive manufacturers have been driven to reduce vehicle weight, CS Tool Engineering has stepped up to the challenge of developing increasingly complex plastic injection molds.
Plastic injection molds that combine strength with minimal materials.
Our engineers love the challenge.
The intricacies involved in manufacturing an automotive door handle is hard to imagine.
CS Tool Engineering has been ISO 9001 certified since 2006.
We have established an effective quality management system for manufacturing and service industries which is registered by Intertek, using ISO 9001 requirements Independent Audits and Certification.
CS Tool Engineering goes through a rigorous audit process to achieve ISO 9001 certification.
We utilize ISO 9001 standards to ensure our processes and future improvements are customer-focused, delivering value every step of the way.
These efficient, value-creating systems help to reduce costs, minimize waste, reduce errors, increase productivity, and dramatically improve overall quality.
CS Tool Engineering is capable of meeting the demands required of world-class plastic mold manufacturing.
Our attention to detail and precision machining technologies is your assurance of meeting tight tolerance specifications.
CS Tool Engineering's experience with single-piece precision-machined components builds on our strength in developing high-performance molds for the most demanding applications.
We are especially proud of our work in developing unique solutions for insert and overmolding plastic with a wide variety of additional materials.
Plastic injection molds are typically constructed from hardened or pre-hardened steel, aluminum, and/or beryllium-copper alloy.
Steel molds cost more, but are often preferred because of their high durability.
Hardened steel molds are heat treated after machining, and they are by far superior in terms of wear resistance and lifespan.
Many steel molds are designed to process well over a million parts during their lifetime.
For lower volumes, pre-hardened steel molds provide a less wear-resistant and less expensive option.
