Out of their small 1,000-square-foot office on the east end of Brighton-Henrietta Townline Road in Rochester, New York, the three partners set out to secure clients and establish their business.
As the country grew and changed in the 1970's, SCJ evolved into a viable company by providing turnkey engineering and manufacturing services.
One of the founders, Thurlow "Suds" Sutherland, became the sole shareholder and owner of SCJ in 1988.
Ownership of the corporation was extended to the employees through the initiation of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan in 2002.
