Bob is the founder, owner and Principal Engineer at PAE. He founded the firm in 1980 and for more than 35 years he has cultivated his structural design skills in response to the demands and intricacies of a highly diverse construction community, from luxury homes in Aspen to industrial plants in Rifle.
He is especially experienced in difficult conditions often encountered in mountain environments, such as settlement- and expansion-prone soils, slope stability problems, heavy snow loads and seismic issues, and has specialized in forensic investigations of structural failures and their remedies.Prior to founding PAE, Bob worked at Eldorado Engineering in 1978 in Glenwood Springs as their primary structural designer for two years.
Before that, he began his engineering career in 1975 with Charles T. Collins in Aspen. Bob attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and received a Bachelor's degree (with honors) in Civil Engineering in 1975. He became a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado in 1979.

After an initial design proved too costly, the City of Glenwood Springs sponsored a design-build competition for the award of this 530- foot-long structure across the Colorado River, DRGW Railroad, I-70, and the Hot Springs Lodge parking area.
Our design was selected as the most aesthetic and cost-effective solution, saving nearly $500,000 over the original design.
Constructed within a five-month period, this landmark structure features a tubular-steel truss superstructure and a concrete deck which varies from 10 feet to 14 feet in width.
