The North Dakota State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors was established by the state legislature to regulate the professions of engineering and land surveying.

The legislature enacted a series of laws that spell out the composition of the board, the board's powers, responsibilities and standards for issuing licenses to engineers and land surveyors. NCEES is pleased to announce that it has added a new option to the NCEES Records program to assist military families with the comity licensure process. The North Dakota State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors was created by the state legislature.
The Board's primary job is to protect the public by making sure that every engineer and land surveyor they license is qualified.

We welcome and encourage everyone to attend.
You do not need to let us know in advance or schedule your attendance.
However, if you do let us know, we'll be able to make sure there is enough room to make everyone comfortable.

The availability of jobs and money has created an influx of new people and a business frenzy that has not been seen in recent memory.
Most of the activity in the state is regulated by a state regulatory board.
In the case of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, they are regulated by this board.
Professional Engineer or the designation "P.E." is the title used in North Dakota by individuals qualified to practice engineering.
In North Dakota, the use of the title Professional Engineer or the initials P.E.
A licensed Professional Engineer has demonstrated to the Board that they have the proper education and experience to practice engineering.
Additionally, an engineer must pass two 8-hour exams before they may become licensed.
Qualifying for a license takes at least 8 years from entering college, passing the first 8-hour exam, obtaining the necessary experience and passing the second 8-hour exam.
In addition to making sure that only qualified individuals become licensed as Professional Engineers or Professional Land Surveyors, the Board of Registration is also responsible for enforcing licensing laws, relevant administrative rules and the Code of Ethics.

North Dakota laws allow any person to bring charges against a Professional Engineer or Professional Land Surveyor.
The charges must be on the Board's charge form, signed and notarized.
Most people have a general idea of their property's boundaries.

Increasing land values in North Dakota have escalated the frequency of boundary disputes.
