In September of 1970 Dick Boquist and Warren Smith formed a company named Research Aquatics Inc. Combined, the two owners had 47 years of experience in the water treatment industry.
The goal of the company was to provide individual solutions to manufacturers with water pollution problems and build and design equipment for fish hatcheries and live bait transport.
Harm Rand was hired to provide installation and service of the equipment.

Cold-Clean refers to Smith Engineering's line of DI-Ultrafiltration Purified Water Systems that are a perfect fit for manufacturing applications that require low/no microbial and/or endotoxin content.
Our Cold-Clean line provides purified water meeting the quality requirements found in USP Purified and WFI, all without the use of heat.
System sizes begin at a 5 gpm flow rate and can be built in multiples of that size.
Typically incorporation of a serpentine distribution loop is required; materials are chosen based on the final water quality specification requirement.
Liquid and air filters are designed to remove particulate and/or microbial content from process streams.
Liquid and air filters can be placed in a process to enhance efficiency of or to protect critical process components.
Air and Liquid filters are sized to meet process requirements and are available in many configurations and materials of construction.
Smith Engineering represents a wide variety of process filtration products for any application.
Ranging from coarse pretreatment to endotoxin retentive final filtration, these filtration products are sold as stand alone or integrated into process equipment and water systems.
