Services
We transform knowledge, ideas, and opportunities into transportation solutions through intent listening, inspiration, teamwork, extensive networking, impeccable client relations, innovation, and an unequivocal attitude of making our clients successful.
To cultivate and strengthen our services, capabilities, and presence using project experiences, strategic alliances, education, knowledge, client successes, and fiscal prowess as a catalyst to become a comprehensive transportation engineering and planning force with a regional focus and a nationwide reach.
Mark Teague, Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Public Manager (CPM), serves as the principal engineer and owner.
Mark's primary role is project oversight, visioning, and forensic engineering including expert testimony as well as direct engineering services and facilitation of multi-agency collaboration.
He possesses over 24 years of experience as a transportation engineer.
Formerly with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Mark has spent most of his career working with small towns and is well versed in the challenges and opportunities present with and for these communities.
J.M. Teague Engineering, PLLC is a traffic engineering firm in western North Carolina that provides traffic engineering expertise to towns, counties, schools, and professional clients such as landscape architects, urban planners, and civil engineering firms.
JMTE serves a five-state area, but prides itself on its "small town" expertise.
JMTE offers extensive traffic engineering services including: intersection safety, wayfinding, traffic impact analysis review and preparation, traffic data collection, traffic signal warrant and operation, pavement marking design and operation, sign design and operation, corridor studies, risk management, MUTCD training and compliance, bicycle and pedestrian safety, pavement condition surveys, presentations, sight distance evaluations, and expert testimony.
J.M. Teague Engineering and Planning is nestled into the Town of Waynesville, the largest small town west of Asheville and the county seat of Haywood County, NC. Waynesville is not only the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited national park in the nation, but there are 14 mountain peaks in Haywood County that are higher than 6,000 feet, more than any other county east of the Mississippi River.
That means that JMTE is accustomed to dealing with the extra challenges that come from steep mountain grades, horizontal and vertical sight distance, and winding roads.
J. Mark Teague, PE, embarked on his "great adventure" in 2010 when he started J.M. Teague Engineering & Planning (JMTE) in the back of his wife's toy store in downtown Waynesville, North Carolina.
Prior to founding JMTE, Mark spent 13 years as a transportation engineering manager at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
He drew from the strong relationships he built throughout Western North Carolina and his extensive experience in project development and management to solve problems for clients while establishing his business.
