Riverbend Engineering is a consulting civil engineering firm specializing in water resources projects and river restoration engineering. Since 1999 we have worked on more than 150 rivers, arroyos, wetlands, and irrigation systems throughout northern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. We can take river restoration projects from a feasibility level assessment all the way through permitting and construction.

Riverbend's staff includes licensed engineers, licensed contractors, certified floodplain managers, and experienced aquatic biologists. Responsible river engineering in the 21st century requires knowledge of water law, floodplain regulations, fluvial geomorphology, Natural Channel Design techniques, water quality criteria, aquatic biology, riparian plant communities, as well as the "Nuts and Bolts" of hydrology, hydraulic engineering, and sediment transport.

We synthesize all of these technical disciplines to provide our clients with ecologically responsible designs that function sustainably within the current regulatory framework.
Services
Riverbend Engineering, LLC is an engineering and construction firm specializing in river restoration.
Our offices are in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We have been consulting on rivers, wetlands, creeks, and arroyos since 1999.
Our team of four professionals has more than 60 years of combined experience working with rivers and ephemeral streams.
Riverbend's approach combines technical expertise and knowledge of the regulatory environment to help our clients navigate a project from start to finish.
At Riverbend we are passionate about rivers, and we recognize their importance in the semi-arid environment of the American West.
Rivers and their occasional companion the wetland are limited resources that many living things depend on.
Most river projects begin with a specific goal in mind: an eroding streambank, an abandoned headgate, a poor fishery, a watershed suffering from forest fire.
Riverbend can design and construct solutions to these problems.
At the same time we are looking at a wide range of habitat and vegetation conditions in and around the river, and we are thinking of ways to improve overall ecosystem health at the reach scale.
Riverbend endeavors to use state-of-the-art equipment and software to ensure we deliver the best results possible.
We have a significant collection of field equipment, a full complement of engineering and restoration software, and we have a hydraulic modeling laboratory capable of flows up to 500 gpm and scale models up to 40 ft in length.
Riverbend's project portfolio is concentrated in northern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado.
This geographic area covers a wide range of climatic zones and geologic terrain.
Each river setting is different, and each client has a specific set of goals and expectations.
Riverbend applies its project management experience to tailor a design that is right for that client, and simultaneously uses our science based understanding of fluvial geomorphology to ensure a design that is self-sustaining.
Riverbend has worked with many State and Local entities to accomplish river projects that benefit the public at large.
Riverbend Engineering has been consulting on river projects in Colorado and New Mexico since 1999.
We specialize in Natural Channel Design (NCD).
This practical approach to river engineering begins with a fundamental understanding of the behavior of rivers, how they will evolve over time, and how they will respond to alterations.
We use this knowledge of river system behavior to achieve the client's project goals without having to armor all of the banks and bed of the river.
Riverbend Engineering has built a successful practice helping our clients achieve their project goals with cost effective, natural looking, and long lasting design solutions.
