Incorporating the principles of toxicology into the chemistry curriculum prepares the next generation of chemists to evaluate the hazards associated with the substances they use as part of their craft and provides the requisite tools to design safer, healthier and sustainable products.

The Sustainability and Green Energy (SAGE) Across the Curriculum program at Bristol Community College was created to answer the growing demand for young technicians and engineers that can lead our nation and world into sustainable patterns of energy use and construction that will be more efficient, cleaner, and drawn from sources that are abundant and renewable.

In addition to restructuring BCC's Engineering technology curriculum, the program recognizes that a technical workforce cannot succeed without comprehensive educational preparation. To that end, SAGE aims to increase professional development of college, high school, and middle school faculty, outreach to students, and introduce both to SAGE education and career options.
Services
RESTRUCTURE CURRICULUM TO INCLUDE GREEN TECHNOLOGIES: Expand the pipeline and success of technical students and improve their readiness to solve 21st century problems by restructuring BCC's Engineering Technology program curriculum to teach the principles of sustainability and the technologies and materials necessary for green energy solutions.
EDUCATE AND OUTREACH TO BCC FACULTY AND REGIONAL TEACHERS: Build capacity of BCC faculty and other regional high school and college instructors to teach principles and technology of clean, renewable and efficient energy and other sustainable practices.
Sustainability "identifies a concept and attitude in development that looks at a site's natural land, water, and energy resources as integral aspects of the development."
In order to meet the goals of sustainability initiatives for future generations, it is imperative we educate today's youth, so they are ready and willing to meet the challenges they will face.
The World Summit definition of sustainability includes Education for a Sustainable Society, which enables people to develop the knowledge, values and skills to participate in decisions. that will improve the quality of life now without damaging the planet for the future.

To get you started, you can see the list of every one of our over 100 webinars listed out with links directly to the session.
Or you can narrow your search by topic, category, or manufacturer.
The conference will provide K-12 teachers with the opportunity to enhance science and mathematics teaching and learning by engaging students with nature's lessons.
Bristol Community College maintains a lending lab of engineering and sustainability teaching equipment and labs that can be loaned to partner schools on an as-needed basis, allowing K-12 educators free access to resources that are not available in their own school systems.
In addition, BCC provides semi-annual workshops demonstrating the equipment available More information on each piece of equipment can be found below.
To borrow Lending Laboratory equipment, read the lending lab policies over carefully before signing borrower agreement and equipment information and bring completed forms to room B107.
In this workshop we learned about the basics of solar.
This included site analysis and feasibility for homeowners to make sure the initial cost was worth the investment.
As well as what is going on in the solar industry in the market and how financing would work.
Towards the end of the week we had a fun hands on experience installing four solar panels onto mock roofs built by one of our local high schools.
This allowed the teachers to apply what they learned in the classroom to the real world.
On the last day we took a field trip to a local solar farm in Southern Massachusetts.
