We have expertise in all types of rail vehicle trucks - light rail transit, heavy rail transit, commuter rail, freight cars and locomotives. A significant area of expertise possessed by RESCO, and by very few others, is that of steered truck design.
In steered trucks the axles are moved relative to the truck frame in such a manner as to be perfectly aligned with the local track curvature. The movement is brought about by a mechanism that detects the curvature of the track and 'forces' the axles into correct alignment. Such trucks should be differentiated from trucks in which the joint between the axle and the truck frame is relaxed somewhat in order to allow the axles to move slightly under the influence of creep forces (so-called self-steering).
