Henning Engineering is a hardware engineering consulting company specializing in electronic, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical design. What makes us unique is our superior ability to seamlessly and creatively integrate the electronic and mechanical design processes. We can design a solution for your application and give you reliable, fully functional prototypes and hardware in a timely fashion.

Our projects have included applications for chemical engineers, physicists, chemists, electrical engineers, and biologists. All of our clients appreciate the clean and seamless integration of electrical and mechanical design that they could not get from any other source. Henning Engineering is equipped to do design, prototype manufacture and small scale production.

We can take your idea, concept, or problem and apply our electrical and mechanical skills to develop a working prototype, product or instrument that is both practical and easy to manufacture. Design and manufacture of specialized electronic test fixtures to test MEMS ICs such as accelerometers, optical network components, and pressure sensors.
Services
My name is Hans Henning and I am the principal engineer at Henning Engineering.
I am an electrical engineer that also has a background in mechanical engineering.
Additionally, I am also a skilled machinist.
I combine these skills to provide industry with unique solutions to some challenging engineering problems.
I have always had a passion for designing and building things.
My first summer job, as a high school student, was working at Bell Labs designing and building mechanical components for equipment used in atomic physics experiments.
Henning Engineering has extensive experience designing test fixtures for a wide variety of electronic components.
We specialize in designing custom test fixtures for applications where a standard bed of nails or IC contactor type of solution is not possible.
Many customers come to us because they cannot find a solution from any other vendor.
MEMS inertial sensors such as accelerometers, multi-axis accelerometers, gyroscopes, and rate sensors.
All of these examples have one thing in common: the input or output of the device is not electrical, the device has to be tested in a special environment, or the device has some special requirements that require strong electro-mechanical design skills.
Henning Engineering has over 15 years experience designing board level electronics.
A lot of our experience has been in the automated test electronic industry and custom instrumentation design.
Analog instrumentation such as DC meters, RMS voltmeters, calibration and reference boards, etc.
On our designs we participate in all phases of the design process from bread boarding and prototyping on the bench up through final checkout in the final system.
Extra time is spent on the layout phase to ensure that the parts placement is optimized and that critical routes are properly connected.
Semiconductor fabrication and packaging equipment for non-mainstream applications such as MEMS fabrication, compound semiconductor components such as LEDs, and other unusual devices often requires a solution that is custom designed.
We have designed numerous solutions for both silicon and compound semiconductor fabrication processes.
Our strength and ability to provide a practical solution comes partly from our knowledge of microelectronics, experience working in semiconductor fabs, and our innovative mechanical design skills.
Our unique combination of electronic and mechanical design skills coupled with our ability to build and prototype ideas allows us to manufacture high quality, practical custom instruments.
Engineers, scientists, and researchers in the Biotech, Life Sciences, Chemical and other industries often have needs for specialized instrumentation.
Often they have developed the theory and ideas for an instrument that they need but lack the resources and associated skills to make a working model.
A good example of one of our projects is a special meter that we designed for measuring the surface viscosity of liquids.
