McGhee Engineering offers planning, design, and construction phase civil engineering services to our clients in Kentucky and Tennessee. We also offer surveying services, including boundary surveys, subdivisions, topographic and route surveys, and construction staking. McGhee Engineering is a civil engineering firm based on Guthrie, Kentucky that offers an array of services to clients primarily in western Kentucky and Tennessee.

That statement has been a running joke since Mike started the firm in his dining room in Guthrie in 1995.
We get asked sometimes why an engineering firm would locate in a tiny Kentucky town rather than in a larger city.
The answer is fairly simple.
First, very few of our clients care where our office is located as long as we provide quality work on time and on budget.
By being in an inexpensive office in Guthrie rather than in an expensive high-rise in a large city, we have a much lower overhead rate than most of our competitors.

Mike founded McGhee Engineering in 1995 after having worked in the engineering business for 15 years with other firms.
He has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky with a concentration in structures and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston with a concentration in finance.
Mike spent the first 10 years of his career in Texas, first as a structural engineer in the petrochemical industry, then in the structural design of water and wastewater plants, then as a lead civil engineer for plants and pipelines, and ultimately as a project manager for municipal and industrial clients.
