WC Engineering specializes in the development and fabrication of performance parts for the 4-cylinder Lotus Esprits and early Toyota MR2 automobiles. We are particularly known for turbo upgrades and custom engine work. Company founder John Welch "tweeks" and races his own 1991 Lotus Esprit SE and 1987 Toyota MR2 Turbo. He works with many other club racers to further develop and enhance their high-performance cars.

Many of the company's performance upgrades are available for purchase as kits, complete with detailed, illustrated instructions. If you need advice on which parts are right for your automobile needs, even if the upgrades you are considering aren't ours, or you would like to discuss a custom project for your car, feel free to call or email us. WC Engineering does service work ranging from simple diagnosis work to complete engine and transmission overhauls on an appointment basis.

WC Engineering has campaigned cars in many local track events and three entries in the Silver State Classic open road race.
Services
We can rebuild the Toyota C-5X and C-6X series transaxle used in many Toyotas and the Renault UN1 as used in the 1989-1995 Lotus Esprit SE.
We offer rebuild services as needed.
We also offer rebuilds to our stringent specifications with a 12-month 12,000-mile warranty.
We can also install most limited slip differentials in both the Toyota and Renault transaxles.
The preference is the TRD helical gear LSD for the C-5X/C-6X series transaxles and the Quaife helical gear unit for the Renault boxes.
I always get comments about my "pretty much stock" 1991 Lotus Esprit SE.
I suppose the first thing to explain is the term "pretty much stock" and what it really means.
Simply put, the term refers to the weight of the car.
If you make any modification to the car that has a negligible effect on the overall weight of the car, then it has no bearing on the "stock" status.
I did not create this term, I learned it from several different events.
People tend to underplay their hand.
It's kind of like poker: never let them know what you have.
WC Engineering makes every attempt to have our Stage I turbos in stock.
However, this is not always possible.
The Garrett T-3 turbo used on the Lotus Esprit is a very unique unit.
It uses a turbine housing (the hot exhaust part) that is only used on the Esprit and it is not commonly available.
When an order comes in, the turbo is shipped to you, the customer, or to a shop that you may be using for the work.
The turbo can be swapped with a minimum of downtime for your car and when you're done you return the old turbo to us.
And even if you're not quite ready to place an order, feel free to contact us to answer any of your questions about our products.
We pride ourselves on providing clear and honest advice, regardless of a customer's purchases.
Please do not hesitate to leave us a message on our answering machine.
We will return your call as soon as possible.
We often return calls in the evening, which is usually a convenient time for our customers as well.
Email is also a great way to contact us.
