Providing professional civil engineering services to private, municipal, and industrial clients. Wnek Engineering has been providing civil engineering services since 1997. The practice of civil engineering covers a wide gamit, our expertise centers around site design, roads, and utilities. Project size ranges from the basic single-family residence to commercial sites with multiple buildings.

Managing and mitigating storm water runoff has become a major facet of our workload, and has provided a thorough knowledge of current regulations, concepts, and design calculations. Recent regulation changes have broadened the toolbox of mitigation measures available, by implementing many low-impact development (LID) techniques. All design work is accomplished using computer-aided design software, to ensure the most accurate and efficient design work.

This also allows the sharing of drawing data with other architectural & engineering disciplines on larger, complex projects.
Services
In every development, stormwater must be examined.
In some cases, a homeowner can simply disperse their roof drains into their yard, and in other cases more serious measures are required.
Every time stormwater is handled on a property - private, commercial, city or county owned, that stormwater flows downstream to another property and eventually to one of the major bodies of water around us.
Here in the Puget Sound area, that major body of water IS the Puget Sound.
We have a responsibility to ensure that the water we let flow back into the environment is clean and free of pollutants.
Roads and Streets make up of a lot of our built environment.
At Wnek Engineering we believe many considerations go into designing a new street.
I think we've all seen poorly designed streets and roads.
Our goal is to consider a variety of options before finalizing our road designs, these options include: slope, storm water, pavement types, curbs, sidewalks, street trees, on street parking and aesthetic appeal in neighborhoods.
By looking at the bigger picture we hope to make roads and streets that are a functional and pleasant part of your project.
The science of stormwater runoff has evolved quickly over the last 20 years.
Initially, engineering for storm runoff was based on collecting and transporting rainfall from a site as quickly and economically as feasible.
Runoff from developed areas discharge more suddenly than the native forested condition, and eventually causes scouring and undercutting of streams that receive the runoff.
This disturbs the habitat function of the stream, especially in urban environments with intense development.
Planning a site requires an understanding of zoning and land-use code and regulations.
Before the 'dream' takes form with paper & pencil, its best to know up front that impacts of critical area buffers, or frontage improvements, may have on the total 'useable' area within the parcel.
Zoning code may limit the size, or number, of buildings; or may not support the proposed use at all.
The envisioned use may require a formal land-use process, if it is not a 'permitted' use; adding 6-9 months to the construction permitting schedule.
If you have a piece of land and are looking to subdivide that land to create a subdivision or sub plot, there is a lot of work that needs to be done.
One of the things we do at Wnek Engineering is help the client to understand what can be done on a given piece of land.
Many times when looking to subdivide a lot the design changes many times due to City, County or State regulations.
We can help you understand all applicable laws and maximize your investment into your subdivision.
