The firm was established to offer comprehensive civil and sanitary engineering services to public, corporate and governmental agencies. The firm has consistently adhered to its original objectives, and gradually enhanced the capabilities of the firm by adding experts in transportation, structural engineering, surveying, site planning and solid waste.
Mattern & Craig is comprised of employee-owners in 6 offices. Personnel includes civil engineers, structural & bridge engineers, transportation/roadway & traffic engineers, licensed land surveyors, resident inspectors and licensed associates in other disciplines. Surveying is performed in house by the firm's multiple survey crews. The remaining staff consists of technicians, construction inspectors, and administrative personnel.

The Chairman guides the board of directors, which oversees the human resources, financial, environmental and technical operations of the firm.
He is responsible for establishing and executing long and short term goals and developing the corporate culture for the firm.
Randy is a Principal in our Johnson City, Tennessee office and Head of the Design Division.
Randy graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1986.
