Centec is a full-service environmental engineering and consulting firm, with offices in Newport Beach, California. Centec was formed as a California corporation in 1989 to meet the growing needs of the real estate market's efforts to comply with environmental due diligence requirements.

Since then, Centec's professional staff of engineers, geologists, registered environmental assessors, and consulting specialists have assisted owners and buyers of property, as well as their lenders, to understand the complexities of environmental conditions and regulations.Since 1989, Centec's professionals have completed over 3,000 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment reports that have assisted in the successful closure of real estate transactions or loan refinances.

Our Phase I reports are consistently considered to be among the most professional and reliable reports in the industry, according to the feedback we receive from hundreds of lenders and knowledgeable real estate professionals. In addition, we offer a variety of cost-effective "summary" reports and consulting services, as well as a full range of Phase II site investigation services for testing of soil and groundwater and Phase III remediation services for the cleanup and closure of contaminated sites.
Services
A Phase II subsurface investigation should only be undertaken upon the successful completion and review of a comprehensive Phase I audit or when contamination is known to exist and requires definition.
The objective is to gather quantitative data to determine the extent of contamination or potential liability and project clean-up or remedial costs for the property.
Phase II subsurface investigations are typically required for dry cleaners, gas stations, plating shops, or other properties which routinely use hazardous materials and have a suspicion of leakage or spills that may be significant.
Phase III Remediation addresses the actual physical clean-up or mitigation of environmental contamination on the subject property.
Sources of contamination may include underground tank or clarifier leaks, process spills, or illegal dumping, etc., and may impact soil and groundwater.
Remedial action is typically conducted in conjunction with oversight by a regulatory agency, and may involve a shallow excavation of contaminated soil or deep in-situ removal or destruction of contamination.
Clean-up and remediation of a property can be a costly proposition requiring the talents of expert professionals in many specialized fields and it is important to have a qualified consultant "on your side" to ensure that efficient and cost-effective solutions are designed to balance the client's needs with the regulator's demands.
