Our engineering consultants help you research, design, prototype, & manufacture optical systems. I want to take this opportunity to comment how impressed I am with OFH. Your team is moving so fast, I feel like a turtle. Also, it's been noted that every time we ask something, our question is promptly answered and your team often brings up aspects that we haven't considered.

Optics for Hire was a great company to work with. At the time, I had no experience developing optical systems before, and OFH was able to guide me through the process of technical specifications through to manufacturing. They were fast and efficient, noting any concerns or limitations with the designs. It was my pleasure to meet and work with the people of Optics For Hire.

Our advanced ophthalmoscope is comprised of over a dozen lenses and required precise optical engineering and construction. It was not a simple project. Our work: Using the LED raysets and Zemax software OFH designed TIR lenses with different beam angles in the same form factor.
Services
We use our expertise in physics and optical systems to help our client's design and build superior optical systems.
Optics for Hire was founded in 2002.
We have a headquarters in Arlington, Massachusetts and engineering offices in Lviv, Ukraine and Minsk, Belarus.
Working with Optics for Hire allows firms to leverage internal expertise and enhance their productivity using the brain power and know-how of a highly skilled team of engineers.
We are incorporated in the United States and are rigorous in our protection of our clients' intellectual property.
Our clients use OFH to research, design, prototype, and commercialize imaging and illumination optical devices.
We've helped customers design and build everything from single prototypes for scientific research to consumer products selling in the tens of millions of units.
A much abbreviated list of past programs is shown below.
The output of a ray tracing program is only as good as its imported data and the skills of the engineer running it.
Our team has 10,000's of hours experience running ZEMAX.
We have developed numerous custom macros and dlls to supercharge our modeling speed and accuracy.
We work closely with the Zemax corporate team for beta testing new features and presenting our custom tools at the Zemax Envision conference.
To support the imaging system and lens manufacturing, our consultants use ZEMAX to design lenses, investigate and optimize optical systems, create lens production tolerances, and develop testing procedures.
OFH maintains a small metrology lab to test imaging and non-imaging lenses.
Clients sometimes request testing of off-the-shelf optics or custom designs that require performance validation after manufacturing.
OFH uses the ISO 12233:2000 'Slanted Edge' method for our MTF test and also has a USAF test for visual quality inspection.
Before working at Optics for Hire, several of our engineers worked on optical drive technologies.
Starting in the late 1970s, they led and worked on programs creating equivalents of the laser disc, CD, and CDR formats.
These were commercialized in the former USSR.
In the late 1990s, these same engineers worked on multi layer optical media drives for the former Constellation 3D.
We have continued to work on optical data storage systems, most recently with Holigraphic data storage and the LaserCard format.
