Kapitan Engineering has been designing and implementing cable networks for utilities throughout Wisconsin since 1960. In 1998, the Company's service portfolio expanded to include Land Surveying for the commercial and private sectors. While Kapitan Engineering continues to provide construction staking and topographic site surveys for our utility clients, the company's primary role is Engineering fiber optic broadband networks and project implementation.

Kapitan has been certified as a Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation Woman-owned Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (WDBE) as well as a member of the Wisconsin Unified Certification Program and our firm is a Small Business Enterprise. The company's guiding principal from its beginning has been focused on providing cost-effective design services while focusing on quality.

Our goal is to establish a strong relationship with our clients, built on trust and reputation. A key component of this is that we go the "extra mile" to ensure that our designs and network layouts will meet client's long-term needs thereby providing them with lasting value of their investment.
Services
Today's broadband providers are faced with rapidly evolving technology, government mandates, and ever-increasing demands on in-house staff and resources.
Kapitan Engineering provides the ideal, cost effective alternative to hiring additional staff - you'll avoid ongoing overhead and pay only for services needed and only when needed.
Our teams of exceptional engineers and technicians streamline your project and provide very personal attention to detail, using the latest state-of-the-art equipment and technology to ensure that your project receives quality engineering.
Our engineers specialize in developing comprehensive network designs for communications providers, including Rural Utilities Service (formerly REA), CLECs (competitive local exchange carriers), and private networks.
We draw from our expertise to develop a practical cost effective network design for you.
By analyzing how each factor of the project affects the larger network perspective, our experienced engineers integrate your network elements from the central office to the customer.
With extensive experience in administering communications projects from initial concept to project completion, Kapitan's staff typically performs the following activities: development of plans and specifications, securing competitive bids for new equipment and plant construction, right-of-way procurement, field staking, obtaining construction authority from local, state and federal agencies, project coordination, supervising construction, plant cut-over, acceptance testing, and system certification.
The funding will extend an existing municipal fiber-to-the-premise network operated by the City of Reedsburg to the surrounding rural area to provide affordable advanced broadband service to residents and businesses that are currently confined to traditional dial-up, wireless, and satellite services.
This rural area of southwestern portion of Wisconsin is deficient in broadband services due to the hilly terrain and numerous valleys which severely limit wireless and satellite service coverage.
The award was accepted by Dave Mikonowicz, Reedsburg Utility Commission Manager.
