Elizabeth Woolf, PE, SE, LEED AP BD+C, is the Principal of Katahdin Engineering, LLC. She received her Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida in 2007, and began her career as a structural engineer in Norfolk, Virginia, working on many varied projects, primarily in the federal, heavy commercial and aviation sectors. In 2014, she left her position with Burns & McDonnell to pursue her lifelong dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Upon successfully completing the trail, she relocated to New London, Connecticut and had the opportunity to work with the structural firm of E2 Engineers, gaining experience with residential, academic and light commercial projects. Elizabeth currently holds Professional Engineer licenses in Indiana, Kansas, Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, and is a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois.
As a woman-owned small business, Katahdin Engineering strives to provide comprehensive structural solutions for every project. Utilizing building information modeling, we are able to minimize structural conflicts with other trades, support complex architectural geometries, and review construction sequencing, minimizing conflicts and delays in the field.

Services
We save our clients time, money and frustration by using technology to its full advantage.
For new construction and major renovations, we combine three dimensional analysis models and building information modeling (BIM) to streamline the design process.
We start by building a full 3-d model of the structure in our analysis software and applying the anticipated loads to it.
We then link our structural model in to Revit, and use the preliminary member sizing to validate member size and location early on in the project.

Utilizing Revit and 3-D analysis software, we are able to quickly resolve complex roof geometry and establish available clear heights within the building structure.
Bringing us into the design development process early on can result in significant cost savings, as we can identify structurally challenging architectural features, find opportunities to save structural costs with minor architectural impact, and determine the most efficient structural system for any given structure.

Katahdin Engineering is proud to serve the residential market - no matter how big or small the project may be.
For many, a home is the most important and expensive asset that you'll ever own, and we know you want to take care of it.
See below for ways in which we can help you as a current or prospective homeowner.
Home inspections sometimes uncover potential structural problems which warrant an additional inspection by a structural engineer.
We perform on-site inspection by a licensed structural engineer, diagnose any structural deficiencies, and provide a written report, including recommendations for any required remediation.
