Michael D. Phipps, PE, LS is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology's College of Design and Construction. In 1988 he graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in environmental and structural design. As part of the Institute's curriculum, he was required to fulfill (4) terms of cooperative employment in his chosen course of study.
This was the beginning of his 25-plus year career in the applied sciences. After graduation, he accepted a position as a project surveyor in the US Virgin Islands where he provided surveying and engineering services for the private sector, local government and US federal offices. He gained invaluable technical, managerial and cultural experience while living abroad.
Returning stateside in 1995, he began work as a consulting civil engineer, and since has been involved with environmental (USEPA) reclamation, retail-commercial-institutional development, building rehabilitation, public works, flood control and transportation projects. He continued his professional development by completing some graduate study at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, attending short courses, seminars and workshops.
