Welcome to the American Society of Civil Engineers Kansas City Section! Whether you are new to the area, a Younger Member transitioning from college, or a Life Member, we hope you join us in celebrating the great work we do as Civil Engineers and look forward to building a sustainable future. We are celebrating the centennial of our Section this year!
One hundred years ago, many of the best civil engineers in that area gathered together and formed the Kanas City Section of ASCE. As we look back over the last 100 years, we see the role of civil engineers has been vital to the growth and vibrancy of the greater Kansas City region.
The transportation systems, water systems, flood protection systems, downtown high rise buildings, urban and suburban planning and development, and myriad other improvements make living and working in the Kansas City area safer, more enjoyable and desirable. We hope you join us at one or many of our events. As civil engineers, we have the opportunity to be a part of the solutions moving forward that will help maintain opportunities in this region.

Services
Since 1921, the ASCE Kansas City Section has been dedicated to furthering the civil engineering profession by educating and connecting civil engineers throughout the Kansas City metro area.
Today, we continue to serve our local engineers by providing networking, social, outreach, and service events.
Evolving from the small group that met in 1921, we now have over 900 members in the Kansas City Section along with an active Young Member Group.
We also take pride in partnering with our student chapters at the the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Missouri State University, and William Jewell College, who will ensure the quality of the profession for years to come.

As early as 1915 a small group of engineers met regularly to discuss recent developments in engineering.
The first meetings were held in the evenings at the University Club.
The meetings had a format similar to today's meetings; each had a speaker but at that time dinners were not served.
N.T. Veatch recalled one early meeting when he was speaker.
He had recently returned from the 1915 ASCE National Meeting held in San Francisco, and reported to others on the construction of the O'Shaughnessy Dam forming the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir located near San Francisco.
