Dailey Engineering specializes in custom Dry Sump Oil Systems, with Roots Style scavenge rotors and spur gear pressure sections, for all levels of racing engines. Our Founder, Bill Dailey, has been active for over 30 years in the design of racing engines. With the design of world class racing engines under his belt, he now focuses his attention specifically to Dry Sump oil systems.
After graduating from college with a degree in mechanical engineering, Bill Dailey followed his father's words of advice simply put "if you don't follow your dream now you probably never will". This advice to follow his passion for designing racing engines has lead him to where he is today as the leader in custom made dry sump oil systems.
Bill learned about state of the art design from his father, Dr Charles Lee Dailey, who was a pioneer in the field of space propulsion shown here with his Pulsed Inductive Thruster in a vacuum test chamber.Bill started his career in automotive racing with Electramotive Inc.

Our Dry Sump Oil Pumps are available in "Standard Size" (STD) and our "SP Series" small pump design.
Introduced in 2001, our small pump design has a housing body size of just 2.4" X 2.7" with a weight reduction of 33% over our current standard size oil pump.
Roots Style Rotors are used in the scavenge sections for both style pumps and bronze spur gears are used for the pressure section.
Drive and idler shafts are made from heat treated alloy steel and precision ground to run in ball bearings front and rear with teflon bushings supporting the inner loads to minimize the rotating friction.

This revolutionary design introduced in 2001 allows this "Small Pump" with a body size of 2.4" X 2.7" to match the flow of our full size oil pump.
Combined with a weight reduction of 33% from our full size oil pump, we have created a 6 stage NASCAR oil pump that weighs less than 7 lbs and still outperforms other standard full size pumps on the market today.
This pump operates at speeds up to 10000 rpm in drag racing applications and 7500 rpm in endurance racing applications.
We have over 1000 unique configurations in use today categorized below by the number of stages.

The "Classic Series" line of dry sump oil pumps are based on our "Standard Series" oil pumps and are the typical industry standard configurations for drag and sprint car racing.
Using new and efficient manufacturing methods as well as producing in large volumes has led to this economical line of oil pumps.
Now you don't have to settle for a spur gear or gerotor style scavenge oil pump for your racing engine.
For an economical price you can now have a Dailey Engineering Roots Style Dry Sump Oil Pump built with the same quality and standards as our full line of modular designed custom pumps.

Our newest design for the cam driven sprint car engine has taken into account several issues with current pump designs.
Our new scavenge housing design for the high helix twisted rotor has created a true positive displacement scavenge pump so pump efficiency is not compromised at low engine speeds while maintaining the benefits of a twisted rotor at high speeds.
The twisted rotor is self driving and requires no timing gear so engine torsional vibration problems can no longer compromise the rotors timing gear interface causing premature pump failures.

The addition of an air/oil separator while maintaining the rear accessory drive is an industry first.
Couple this with our billet oil pan for the best performance you can achieve in a dirt late model application.
